Insult to Indian IT industry by Javed Naqvi: terms them as "Indian IT coolies"
I do read articles on Dawn newpapar (A Pakistan based newpaper) to understand their viewpoints. In doing so I have noted that there are some Indian Authors who knowingly (or unknowingly) present Indian culture and Indian society in bad light. I have been following articles of Mr Javed Naqvi (his email address is jawednaqvi@gmail.com) who does anything and everything in his power to inflict as much damage as possible to the image of India and Indians (and Indian Diaspora) abroad. I sometimes get upset but do let it go because we have respect freedom of expression. But there come articles from him that are way overboard and really too much. As such I have decided put my views here... His article appears with the title "Mythology of a nation’s friends and its perceived enemies" and here is the hyper link to it (http://www.dawn.com/weekly/jawed/20071009.htm). Even if I were to ignore all that has been said, he refers to Indian IT professionals (specially those who work in USA) as IT coolies. Read at the bottom of the article. I do not know if he has a special dislike for coolies that he has tried to use that lable to describe a total different profession but I really feel offended. Coolies tend to help travellers who are arriving at one particular location (read railway station or major bus stop junctions) with their luggage. I do not know why would he use the word "Coolies" to descriped the India's IT industry. This much disrespect to the profession of "coolies" that he uses that noun as adjectives to define a total different industry. What do you think ? What is going on in his mind ? Does he have respect for the labour class ?
